Jefferson County Fair Officials Worried About Possible Ban On Dogs

Jefferson County Fair officials are saying no to a law that could ban dogs at events on Watertown city property.

City Council drafted the law after an American bulldog attacked a two year old boy at the Watertown Farmer's Market over the summer.

Fair officials say many vendors prefer to travel with dogs and banning the animals could keep vendors away.

"We don't want a prohibition of dogs that's going to inhibit the way we do things," said Bob Simpson, fair president.

Fairgoers are already banned from bringing in dogs.

A vote by Watertown City Council on the dog measure has not been scheduled.
