Jefferson County Sees Sales Tax Revenue Increase

Jefferson County sales tax revenue for October is up 5% from last year.

That's about 2.5% more than expected. Watertown Mayor Jeff Graham says the numbers are good news for residents.

"Unlike communities elsewhere in the state who are debating things like property tax caps, I think we should be able to do the kind of nice things we want to do as a community, but still keep property taxes under control," says Graham.

The mayor says he expects sales tax numbers to improve even more next year, when more troops from Ft. Drum are back home.
