A sixth candidate has emerged for Watertown city council.
Stephen Jennings announced his candidacy Wednesday morning.
"Though we face many challenges, opportunities for renewal and growth exist more than ever before in previous modern times," Jennings said in a release, "and I believe a new direction in focus and leadership is called for."
Jennings has worked for 18 years as a public health planner and public information officer with the Jefferson County Public Health Service Administration.
He joins a crowded field of candidates vying for two seats.
He faces incumbents Jeff Smith and Teresa Macaluso and newcomers Cody Horbacz, Jassmine Borreggine and Rod LaFave.
A primary in September will narrow the field to four. Voting for the two available seats will be in November.
