Job Fair Planned to Lessen Impact of CAH Job Losses

The Carthage and West Carthage communities are hoping to lessen the impact of layoffs from Carthage Area Hospital with a job fair next week.

The job fair will be on Wednesday from 10 am to 2 pm at the West Carthage Municipal building. Many healthcare employers will be at the fair.

West Carthage mayor Scott Burto helped organize the job fair for the laid off employees.

"Just wanted to give them an opportunity to stay in our community and get back to work doing what they enjoy," said Burto.

In late January, we found out Carthage Area Hospital planned on cutting approximately 20 percent of its staff, and reducing the number of inpatient beds in its critical care unit. West Carthage Mayor Scott Burto says the final number of layoffs was 53, down from an originally announced 73.
