The longtime supervisor of the Town of Rossie has resigned.
Wayne Knight told 7 News Friday that he resigned effective Thursday night, and that deputy town supervisor Harry Turnbull now becomes town supervisor.
Knight said his "personal work schedule" prompted the resignation.
Knight, who has been Rossie's supervisor since 1998, was criticized in a report from the state comptroller last fall. That report concluded Knight was late in handing in town financial records and didn't maintain accurate computerized records and reports.
At the time, Knight said the late filings were the result of "procrastination."
Friday, he said his decision to resign was not related to the criticism.
