LaFargeville Dog Problem Solved?

State police tell 7 News they were inside a LaFargeville trailer Friday night, investigating the conditions of up to a dozen dogs living there.

Police say the dogs were in good condition but the owner agreed to remove the animals.

That comes just hours before there was supposed to be a protest at the site.

A Facebook page titled, 'Save The Dogs From County Route 180' was created, calling for the protest. Nearly 170 people had planned to go.

The rally was canceled but group organizers still consider it a victory.

"Today would have been the hottest on record that we can figure out, so that is a victory and at the same time this whole situation prompted awareness that we had a situation like this in Jefferson County," said Julie Frangione of the 'Save The Dogs From County Route 180' Facebook Page.

Even with the dogs allegedly out of the trailer, the people behind the Facebook page say their job isn't done...yet.

"We want to work on changing the laws in Jefferson County first and foremost because this is our home and the community wants to, so that's what we're going to pursue from here," Frangione said.

In the past, the dogs owner has told 7 News the animals were well taken care of. As for their location now? Police wouldn't tell us, but Julie Frangione, one of the organizers of the Facebook page, says she hopes they end up at the Jefferson County SPCA.
