Large Snake Reported In Massena

Police in Massena are searching for a large snake that's apparently loose in the village

Police Chief Timmy Currier said in a release that patrols were sent to Northview Drive at around 9 p.m. Thursday because someone reported seeing a large snake.

It was described as being five feet long, four inches thick and a dark color with red markings.

Witnesses told police it was acting aggressively.

Police say they found a smaller snake of the same color, but have not found the larger one.

Police are warning people to avoid any snakes that are acting aggressively and contact the police department immediately.

Anyone who is missing a pet snake is also asked to contact police.
