Law Enforcement Officials Raise Funds With Torch Run

Tools

Law enforcement officers from across St. Lawrence County traded guns and badges for running shoes Friday as part of a fundraiser for the Special Olympics and the upcoming Summer Games.

Officials from State Police and Customs and Border Protection were among those who started at Ogdensburg City Hall and pounded the pavement for more than 36 miles along state Route 37 ending at the Massena Town Hall.

For the "Guardians of the Flame", the torch is passed among runners along the route and even though the run can be grueling it also is a rewarding experience.

Many people along the way sounded horns or waved as the runners passed by.
