A West Leyden man was critically injured when he crashed his motorcycle in Lewis County Sunday.

Sheriff deputies say 55 year old Robert Bowers failed to negotiate a curve on the Osceola Road in the town of Lewis.

The motorcycle traveled about 380 feet off the blacktop before striking a tree. Bowers was ejected from the vehicle.

Deputies say Bowers was found by a passerby. He was treated at the scene for multiple fractures and transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica.

He was later airlifted to Syracuse Medial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Deputies say the investigation is continuing.
