A car involved in an alleged hit-and-run accident in Lewis County was found by police because it broke down.

A Glenfield man faces several charges including violating Leandra's Law, which involves allegedly driving drunk with a minor in the vehicle.

Sheriff's deputies charged 20 year old Joshua Mellnitz with driving while intoxicated, following too closely, unreasonable speed, and leaving the scene of an accident.

Deputies say the accident happened on State Route 26 in the town of West Turin when Mellinitz allegedly rear-ended another vehicle. They say Mellnitz continued south on the highway until his car stopped in the town of Lee because of damage sustained in the crash.

Deputies say Mellnitz had a 14 year old in the vehicle with him.

He was arraigned and released after posting $5,000 bail.
