Lewis County Opens Bids For Office Building Project

Tools

It looks like Lewis County might be able to save $1 million or so on its proposed new office building.

The county opened bids for the project on Thursday.

The bids were in five different categories:

- general construction
- mechanical
- plumbing
- electrical
- site work

When the low bids for all of the categories were added, the total came to approximately $8.8 million.

The county had estimated the project would cost about $10 million to build.

"I would say it's very encouraging," said county Legislature Chair Mike Tabolt. "It gives us room to move on for some further thought."

The biggest category in the project is general construction.

The low bid of $4.8 million for general construction was submitted by Bette & Cring Construction Group of Watertown.

County lawmakers will meet Monday to review the bids.
