Emergency crews had to use extrication equipment to free the operator of a Ford Explorer from her vehicle Friday morning.

The operator, 48 year old Denise Burrows of Lisbon, lost control on a curve on County Route 14 in Madrid and struck guide rails before the vehicle ended up on it's side in the middle of the highway.

Burrows was conscious and alert as rescue crews used Jaws of Life tools to free her from the wreckage.

She was taken to Canton - Potsdam Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Burrows was treated at the hospital and released.

State police say no tickets were issued.
