Lisbon Woman Wins $10K in Claxton-Hepburn Foundation Drawing

A Lisbon woman is $10,000 richer this weekend.

Andrea Chenier won the grand prize in a 'Cash for a Great Cause' promotion, which raised funds for Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center.

The winning ticket was drawn by our own 7 news reporter John Friot Friday.

The Claxton-Hepburn Foundation sold 2,000 of the $10 tickets for the fundraiser - the first of its kind for the hospital.

Cindy Clusen, Executive Director of the Claxton-Hepburn Foundation, called the promotion an "overwhelming success":

"It was really well received by the community. We were actually surprised that we sold out of the tickets a week and a half earlier than we expected to," Clusen said.

The lucky winner says she never thought *her* ticket would be picked!

"I'm shocked! I never win!" Chenier said.

"One of my girlfriends came down early for lunch. She calls me up and says, 'Oh, they're doing the drawing.' I said, 'It says I don't have to be there to win.' So I finish my work and I thought, 'Oh, I'll go and eat lunch.' When I'm walking in the door, I heard my name. I'm like, 'No!'" she explained.

Chenier says she is planning to use her winnings for an upcoming trip.
