Local Border Agent Convicted Of Falsifying Records

A border agent at Alexandria Bay has been convicted of falsifying records while on the job.

A federal jury convicted 48 year old Todd Tyo of Heuvelton on a single count, while clearing him of charges of theft of government funds and concealing evidence. 

Prosecutors said Tyo took just under $11 from two truckers last year and then falsely entered "no sale" in the register.

Sentencing is set for May 10, when tyo could get up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
