Local Economy Is Changeable

The weather isn't the only thing that's changeable in the north country.

There were predictions Thursday of a changeable economy in northern New York in 2013.

The occasion was the 2013 Economic Forecast event held by the Greater Watertown - North Country Chamber of Commerce.

One message - the north country's economic future is tied to the rest of the country's, and the world's economy.

"It has grown over time from a regional economy to a state economy to a national economy, but more importantly today, a global economy," said Don Alexander of the Jefferson County Industrial Development Agency.

As always, Fort Drum was hailed as a key to the north country's economy.
