Local Group Holds Workshops On Affordable Care Act

Millions of Americans are expected to head online next Tuesday for opening day of the health insurance marketplace under the Affordable Care Act.

To help people navigate the upcoming changes, Cornell Cooperative Extension Associations of Northern New York is holding a number of workshops.

The workshops are open to the public to answer questions about everything from buying health insurance to applying for federal help with premiums.

When the exchange website goes up, those looking to compare health plans will know what their options are.

"The key points will be trying to help people figure out what they need to do to comply with the new law and also things that they could benefit from," said Ashley Pierce, a Cooperative Extension educator.

So far, five workshops have been held this week.

If you haven't been able to make it, the last one is tonight (Thursday) from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Cornell Cooperative Extension in Lowville.
