Canton police are warning village residents to lock their vehicles, whether they're parking on the streets or in their driveways.

Police say during the past two weeks, they've had about 10 to 12 calls about items being stolen from unlocked vehicles

The articles are removed during the late evening or early morning.

Items such as cash, credit cards, GPS locators, and other personal items have been reported stolen.

There were reports that some vehicles were ransacked, police say, but nothing appeared to have been taken.

Anyone who has had items stolen can call 315-386-4561.

Police are hoping they can piece individual stories together to identify the suspects.

Also, police say, it would also help them find the owners if any stolen items are recovered.
