Lyons Falls Man Killed In Crash

By Diane Rutherford

A 64 year old Lewis County man died Thursday morning when his car went off the road, overturned and partially ejected him.

State police identified the victim as Charles Burdick of McAlpine Street in Lyons Falls.

Investigator Stephen Kubat said the accident happened shortly before 7 a.m. on Route 12D in the town of West Turin.

He said Burdick failed to merge when the three-lane highway turned into two lanes.

Burdick's vehicle traveled along the guide wires, went off the road and overturned, he said.

The investigator said Burdick, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected.

Burdick was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken Lewis County General Hospital for an autopsy.

Kubat said Burdick suffered from medical conditions including heart problems and diabetes.
