Man Accused In Prostitution Of Teen In Watertown

A Syracuse teenager missing since June has been found in Watertown working as a prostitute.

State police say the 15 year old girl turned up during an investigation into prostitution at Watertown-area motels.

Charged with second-degree promoting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child was 29 year old Eric Oliver of Syracuse.

Police said their investigation began after they were contacted by the girl's mother, who had heard the teen was working as a prostitute in the Syracuse and Watertown areas.

According to court documents, the mother saw her daughter in photographs and advertisements for escort services on the web site www.backpage.com.

The mother, who also recognized the listing's phone number as belonging to her daughter, told state police about the site.

An investigator posing as a potential client contacted the girl, who was using the name Deja.

The pair agreed to meet at the Rodeway Inn on Arsenal Street, the court papers stated.

According to the documents, the investigator was to pay $160 for 30-minutes of sex.

Police located the girl and Oliver on Arsenal Street on Thursday and took them into custody.

According to court papers, the manager of the Rodeway Inn told police that Oliver had previously stayed at the inn two weeks ago.

Oliver was arraigned in Watertown City Court and sent to Jefferson County Jail without bail.

Oliver is listed as a Level 2 sex offender on the state's Sex Offender Registry.

The girl was returned to Family Court in Onondaga County.
