A 45 year old Watertown man is accused of leaving his two toddlers alone on a city sidewalk so he could get involved in a fight - fight in which he was stabbed.

City police charged Michael Campaney of 819 Academy Street with endangering the welfare of a child.

He was issued an appearance ticket.

Campaney is accused of leaving his two children, ages 2 and 3, unattended on the corner of Franklin Street and Flower Avenue East on October 9 so he could cross the street for a fight.

The youngsters crossed the street alone in heavy traffic, police said.

Campaney suffered a stab wound to his torso and was sent to Upstate Medical University in Syracuse for treatment.

Police charged 25 year old Frank Cooley Jr. with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the stabbing.
