Man Accused Of Trying To Take Drugs Inside Prison

A Buffalo man was accused over the weekend of trying to enter the state prison in Gouverneur with drugs in his possession.

State police say 25 year old Tyrone Jenkins had a small amount of marijuana and two half pills with him when he tried to enter the Gouverneur Correctional Facility on Saturday.

Troopers say one of the drugs was MDMA ecstasy and the other hydrocodone with acetaminophen.

Jenkins was charged with three counts of second degree introducing prison contraband, two counts of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

He was arraigned in Gouverneur town court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail on $2,000 bail.
