A Dekalb Junction man is accused of writing a bad check to his local fire department.

St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies say 52 year old Kenneth Thomson wrote a $300 check to the Dekalb Junction Fire Department on an account without enough money in it to cover the check.

Deputies say Thomson was paying for a service the department performed for him.

Fire department members turned the matter over to the sheriff's department after they contacted Thomson and still weren't paid.

Thomson was charged with issuing a bad check and will answer the charge in Dekalb town court at a later date.
