Man Allegedly Tries To Pass Pennies Off As Dimes

A Heuvelton man was arrested after he allegedly tried to pass pennies off as dimes at a bottle redemption center.

St. Lawrence County sheriff deputies say 21 year old Jon Larue went to Perry's Bottle Redemption Center in the town of Oswegatchie with what he claimed were seven rolls of dimes.

Employees gave him $35 in exchange, but later discovered the rolls were filled with pennies.

Larue was charged with petit larceny and released to appear in Oswegatchie town court at a later date.
