Watertown police have arrested a Tennessee man in connection with the case of a woman who died after jumping or falling out of a moving vehicle.

The incident happened on April 29 on Mill Street in the city.

Last Friday, police arrested 24 year old John Preston of Dayton, Tennessee on a charge of aggravated unlicensed operation.

He was driving the sports utility vehicle in which 24 year old Angela Perdue was riding.

Police said the Watertown woman 'exited' the SUV, which was traveling 30 miles an hour on Mill Street.

According to police, Perdue was dragged a short distance after being struck by the rear tire.

She died at the scene.

An autopsy determined Perdue suffered 'blunt force trauma' to her head.

It's still unclear whether she fell, jumped or was pushed from the vehicle she was in.

Preston was released on $250 police bail pending a May 18 arraignment in city court.
