New Video: Man Arrested in Watertown for Kentucky Murder

It was quite the scene for residents on Watertown's North Meadow Street Sunday morning.  Police with guns drawn, surrounding the car of a suspected killer.

The man state police arrested was 27-year-old Miles Matthews, currently of Indiana.  He was wanted in the murder of a taxi driver in Oldham County, Kentucky.  That murder happened on Thursday and police were looking for the victim's car, a 2007 silver Chrysler Sebring.

State Police say they found Matthews and the car on North Meadow street.  It was a late morning surprise for residents there.

"I saw about nine police cars come onto the street., pulling over one car with weapons drawn. It was pretty intense," said Rudy Rodriguez, North Meadow Street resident.

The body of 34-year-old Adam Gregg was found Thursday night in Oldham County, Kentucky.

New York State police say they were given a heads up by Kentucky authorities. They said Matthews is from this area.

As for the reason Matthews is suspected of killing the taxi driver, all state police could say, is heroin was involved.

"The information we have, coming from Kentucky, as far as the perpatrator, is that there may have been some narcotics involvement. Nothing on the victim's end, but on the perpatrator's end. We have reason to believe heroin was involved," said Mark Lincoln, State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Watertown Police helped in the arrest. State Police say Matthews will be arraigned and held locally with no bail as a fugitive from justice.
