A Gouverneur man was charged early Tuesday after they found a loaded handgun in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff's deputies say 23-year old Ryan Travis was also driving with a blood alcohol content of three times the legal limit.
He was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated driving while intoxicated and failure to dim his headlights.
Deputies say a loaded .40-caliber handgun was in his car when he was arrested. He does not possess a New York State pistol permit, police say.
His blood alcohol content was measured at .24 percent. The legal limit is .08.
He was ticketed and turned over to military police. He will appear in Gouverneur town court at a later date.
