Man Charged With Rape In PotsdamA Potsdam man is in St. Lawrence County jail on charges he raped a woman early Sunday. Potsdam police say 24 year old Chunlei Xing allegedly broke into the Meadow East apartment of an acquaintance and raped her. Xing, a Clarkson University student, is charged with first degree rape, third degree assault, second degree burglary and third degree criminal mischief. Xing is also charged with fourth degree criminal mischief for allegedly breaking into another apartment in the same complex a short time earlier. Police say Xing broke into the other apartment thinking the acquaintance was inside. Police say he kicked in the door in each incident. He was arraigned in Potsdam village court and committed to jail on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. |
