Sheriff's Dept. Identifies Man Found Dead In Swan Road Home
More than a day after a man was found dead in his town of Watertown home, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department has officially identified him as 33 old Philip Pickett.
Officials released very little information and still haven't said how Pickett died.
In a news release issued Tuesday afternoon, Undersheriff Paul Trudeau said, "This is an isolated incident and the citizens of Jefferson County are not in any danger."
On Monday night, a Facebook page of a relative confirms the dead man is Phil Pickett.
"They're still collecting leads, still...collecting evidence and talking to people, trying to get exactly what happened," Trudeau said Monday afternoon.
He declined to say if the death was a homicide.
That autopsy was scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday.
7 News reporter Matt McClusky spent much of the afternoon on the scene.
He saw investigators knocking on neighbors' doors.
District Attorney Cindy Intschert arrived at the scene at around 2 p.m.
McClusky said everyone who entered the home was wearing some type of protective boots.
He also observed a New York State Police helicopter flying over the scene.
The body was later removed from the home.
