A Rensselaer Falls man was seriously injured Monday in an industrial accident at a St. Lawrence County quarry.

State police said 62 year old Ronald Stiles of Putney Road became pinned in the front-end loader he was operating.

According to police, the accident happened at approximately 10:45 a.m. at Stiles Sand and Gravel on Scotch Settlement Road near Richville.

Police said Stiles, the owner of the business, was operating the loader when a piece of machinery fell and trapped him in the cab.

Emergency workers used hydraulic rescue tools to free Stiles, who was then airlifted to Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

Stiles was in serious condition as of early Monday afternoon.
