Man Sentenced In Child Pornography Case


A former St. Lawrence County man charged in a child pornography sting last fall has been sentenced to 10 years probation and classified as a Level 1 sex offender.
Michael Delamontagnes was one of five men charged last October following a year long investigation involving the sexual exploitation of children.

The 40 year old former Brasher resident now lives in Connecticut,

The sting, known as Operation Northern Net, saw the seizure of several computer hard drives from the suspects' homes in October 2012.

Police said at the time of the arrests that thousands of graphic images were downloaded from the internet - some depicting adults having sexual relations with infants.
Delamontagnes was originally charged with 132 felony counts of promoting an obscene performance of a child and 132 counts of  possessing an obscene sexual performance of a child.

He was allowed to plead guilty to a single felony count of attempted promoting a sexual performance of a child less than 17 in a deal with prosecutors.
Delamontagnes also paid $1,425 in surcharges and court fees.
