Massena High School Students Hospitalized After Taking Xanax

Massena police say arrests are expected after several teenagers ingested prescription drugs at the high school and had to be taken to the hospital.

The male and female students, ranging in age from 15 to 18, took the anti-anxiety medicine Xanax Tuesday morning after it was provided to them by another student.

Some of the students involved became ill and went to the school nurse's office before being taken to Massena Memorial Hospital.

Police Chief Timmy Currier said at least one of the students was reported as "unresponsive" when the rescue squad was sent to the school.

School officials did not return our phone calls for comment.
