A Massena motorcyclist was arrested in connection with a high-speed chase in August during which several motorists were forced off the road.

State police say the motorcycle got away at the time, but their investigation revealed that 31year old Joseph Olmstead was the operator.

Troopers say the chase started on Route 56 in the town of Norfolk on August 15, continued onto Route 37, and ended when police broke off pursuit after the motorcycle turned into a residential area on County Route 36 in Louisville.

Several cars were forced off the road during the pursuit, police say.

Olmstead was arrested Monday and charged with third degree unlawfully fleeing a police officer, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and several traffic violations.

He was arraigned in Norfolk town court and sent to St. Lawrence County jail on $1,500 bail.
