Massena Man Injured In Motorcycle Accident

A Massena man was seriously injured Monday night when his motorcycle became pinned beneath a car.

Massena police say 20 year old Nicholas Newtown was riding his bike on the Bayley Road around 11:30 p.m. when he crested a hill and saw a vehicle backing into a driveway.

Newtown went into a skid and became lodged beneath the vehicle, which was driven by Nicholas Sherman.

A passerby used his jack to lift the vehicle and free Newtown, who was taken to Massena Memorial Hospital.

He was later transferred to Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington, Vermont, where he was listed in critical condition Wednesday morning.

Sherman was uninjured.

Police say they're still investigating and charges may be pending.
