Massena Man - Questioned In Wife's Death - Found Dead
A man whose wife died under mysterious circumstances over a year ago was found dead by his children in their Massena home early Tuesday morning.
State police investigators say there were no signs of foul play in the death of 57 year old James Farbotnik. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine his cause of death.
Farbotnik's wife, 43 year old Vinira Farbotnik, was found dead by him and one of their children in May of 2011. They found her floating under a small canoe in a pond at the family's Route 37C property.
Troopers say Farbotnik's children heard a noise shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday and found him collapsed and unresponsive in the bathroom.
Emergency responders attempted to revive him, but were unsuccessful.
He was pronounced dead by St. Lawrence County Coroner June Wood.
Farbotnik was questioned in his wife's death, but no charges were filed against him or anyone else.
Farbotnik is survived by five children.
