Massey Rushed To Hospital After Guilty Verdict
Moments after his conviction on child sexual assault charges, Jon Massey was rushed to the hospital from the Jefferson County Court House after trying to harm himself.
County Sheriff John Burns said he was told a court officer saw Massey put something in his mouth.
According to Burns, the deputy sheriff who was there to transport Massey to jail said Massey was acting strangely.
Burns said the deputy questioned Massey, who said he had taken cyanide.
"He was stoic. I asked him if he was okay. He assured me that he was," said Piemonte. "I didn't see anything that would have led me to believe that he would have done this."
He was taken to Samaritan Medical Center and was listed in critical condition early Friday evening.
