McDonald's Proposed For Watertown's Washington Street

A third McDonald's fast food restaurant may be coming to Watertown.

But first, the city must grant a change in zoning from Residence A to Neighborhood Business District.

A Manlius-based company, Sphere Development, has proposed building the McDonald's at the corner of Washington and Chestnut streets, where an auto repair shop currently stands.

The shop and a home at 111 Chestnut Street would need to be razed to make way for the restaurant.

The City Planning Board is scheduled to discuss the project at a meeting set for May 6.

There are McDonald's restaurants on Arsenal and State streets.

Last year, people in the neighborhood were against a proposed expansion of the Sunoco station next door. That expansion didn't happen.
