Meet The BOCES Superintendent Finalists

Who will lead lead Jefferson-Lewis BOCES when current Superintendent Jay Boak steps down?

In a closed door meeting Thursday, the two candidates made their pitch to school superintendents.

Sackets Harbor Central School District Superintendent Frederick Hall is one of the candidates.

"I've been at all levels from building principal, teacher, superintendent for programs for exceptional students, supervisor of schools," said Hall.

Stephen Todd is the other candidate.

He is the assistant superintendent for Instruction at St. Lawrence-Lewis BOCES.

"I know big districts, small districts, rural, urban, I've had a wealth of experience that I've been privileged to have in 20 years of education," said Todd.

Jefferson-Lewis BOCES works with the 18 schools in its district to provide resources and programs that schools could not afford to have on their own.

One example is technical and career training courses BOCES offers to students in its district.

So here's what's next - superintendents will give their recommendations to the BOCES board.

The candidates will also have to meet with New York Education Commissioner John King.

The board will then either vote on a candidate or decide to hold more meetings.
