Men Get Jail Time For Assaulting Clarkson Lacrosse Player


Two St. Lawrence County men who assaulted a Clarkson University lacrosse player were given  sentences Monday.

Brian Bicknell was sentenced to 180 days in jail and five years probation.

Dakota Vallance was sentenced to one year interim probation and could receive youthful offender status at the end of the term.

The two admitted beating 21 year old Donald Whelley on Maple Street in Potsdam in August 2013 in a plea bargain with prosecutors.

Whelley received serious injuries and required facial reconstructive surgery.
