Military Matters: Fort Drum Spouse Gets College Scholarship

Military Spouse Rebeccah Moritz says she has been thinking about going back to school for a while.

She can now thanks to the internet.

"Well, being a military family, you're not real stable where you're at, and so being able to do it online, I can continue my education and still be with my family," said Moritz.

She's about to begin online course work toward her degree from Brigham Young University - Idaho.

But, Moritz says she'd probably still be just thinking about it had it not been for another online tool: "Bookoo".

The website that helps neighbors buy and sell used goods is awarding her a $1,000 scholarship.

That will cover a little more than half of next semester's tuition.

"It takes out quick a chunk of that stress," said Moritz.

Bookoo co-founder Austin Allgaeir says that's the point.

Life is stressful enough for military families.

"It's difficult for them to gain education because of the military lifestyle and we wanted to support them in whatever way we could and give back to them in that regards," said Allgaeir.

And for that, Bookoo user and now future college graduate Rebeccah Moritz says she can't say thank you enough.
