The owner of Tebbs Head Shops is in trouble again.
John Tebbetts, 33, of Rome, was jailed Monday on a charge of violating the terms of his release on a federal drug conviction, syracuse.com reported.
Tebbetts pleaded guilty in December to a string of federal drug and money laundering charges, afrter he was caught in a crackdown on so-called 'designer' drugs.
Tebbetts' head shops, including one in Watertown, sold a variety of synthetic drugs including products that were marketed as 'bath salts' that were supposed to mimic the effects of amphetamine and cocaine.
Tebbetts was freed until his sentencing in July, but as a condition of his freedom, he was not allowed to possess controlled substances unless prescribed by a doctor, syracuse.com reported.
Tebbetts reportedly told his probation officer he doesn't have health insurance and got the drugs from his brother-in-law to treat back pain.
Tebbetts faces at least eight years in prison. In addition, a judge in Watertown has ordered Tebbetts to pay a $193,000 fine.
