Naming the Fort Drum Connector Road

As work continues to open the new Fort Drum Connector Road, State Senator Patty Ritchie, R-48th District, has introduced legislation to name it the "Paul Cerjan Memorial Highway".

The late US Army Lieutenant General and former 10th Mountain Division soldier served our country for more than 30 years.

Among other things, he was responsible for the planning, programming, and execution of the construction project that transformed Ft. Drum from a small reserve training center into a world class Army installation in the 1980s.

"I think that this is a wonderful opportunity to honor someone who has contributed a lot to the area and a lot to the 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum as a whole," Ritchie said.

Already, the Jefferson County Board of Legislators has unanimously approved a resolution in support of the new name for the Connector Road.

Ritchie hopes to have it up for a vote in the State Senate within the next two weeks.
