There's a new commander of Fort Drum and the 10 Mountain Division.

In a change of command ceremony Monday morning, Maj. Gen. Mark Milley turned over the command to Maj. Gen. Stephen Townsend.

Townsend has been assigned to Fort Drum twice in the past and says he's delighted to be back.

7 News asked him if there's any way to improve Fort Drum and the division.

"There probably is, because every unit I've been in in the Army there's something they can do better, but I haven't seen it yet," Townsend said.

"I'm so new here to the 10th," he said, "everything I've seen is being done to a fantastic standard."

Milley has been nominated for promotion to lieutenant general and will take over command of Fort Hood, Texas.

He commanded Fort Drum and the 10th for just over a year.

"I could not be more proud of having served in this division on three tours," said Milley.
