New Dairy Queen To Open Soon In Watertown

A news release announced Monday that a new Dairy Queen has opened in Watertown.

However, the Salmon Run Mall says the eatery won't actually start serving until the week after Thanksgiving.

Dairy Queen will serve up favorites, including its iconic Blizzard Treats, in the mall.

The location will also offer Orange Julius products such as fruit beverages and smoothies.

The 523 square-foot restaurant will employ a staff of 20.

"I am thrilled about the opening of the very first DQ Treat store in Jefferson County and am ready to serve our customers," said new operator Damon Draught in a news release. "The Dairy Queen system is the world-wide treat leader, and we are excited to introduce our fabulous selection of cravable treats, including all of the Dairy Queen and Orange Julius favorites to the Watertown community."

The Dairy Queen will be open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to the news release.

We tried to contact the company which sent out the news release to find out an exact date for Dairy Queen's opening, but we haven't heard back yet.

One other note - there was a Dairy Queen on Watertown's Arsenal Street years ago.  We're unsure if the new operation, being a "DQ Treat store", makes it the first of its kind in Jefferson County.
