New To School? Time To Register!

Tools

It's time for new students to enroll in the Watertown school district.

Among those who registered Thursday at Knickerbocker Elementary were a pair of fathers and sons.

One boy -- who spent the last two years in private school -- is heading into fourth grade. The other boy is going into kindergarten after moving here from Washington state.

"I took the day off for that, make sure he's here, get registered again -- looking forward to when the school year starts," said Jean Delius, the father of the fourth grader.

"I went to the school 35 years ago," said Derek McKinney, who's son is entering kindergarten. "It seems like nothing's changed. They're very spot-on with everything they do."

The school district says there are fewer new enrollees this year. Enrollment has been going down for the past decade.
