New Wind Turbine Blade Testing Lab For Clarkson University

Clarkson University figures prominently into Governor Andrew Cuomo's clean energy and environmental initiatives.

Cuomo convened an Earth Week cabinet meeting on Thursday to announce a series of plans designed to protect New York's natural resources, increase energy conservation, and create jobs across the state.

The governor announced that Intertek, a leading international provider of quality assurance testing and certification, will launch a new Wind Turbine Blade Testing Lab at Clarkson University.

Dr. Kerop Janoyan, associate professor and executive officer of Clarkson's Civil & Environmental Engineering Department, says the new lab is being built around the existing facility.

He said Clarkson's lab will become "the go-to place" for manufacturers and inventors to test their wind turbine blades.
