New York Selling Off State Vehicles & Other Items

New York state is getting in the eBay business in order to sell off vehicles and other things it doesn't need.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that the Office of General Services will launch "NYSStore."

Cuomo's office describes the site as "a new eBay-based online platform."

In addition to unneeded state vehicles, NYSStore will sell other surplus state goods including office supplies, computers, cell phones, furniture, medical equipment, cameras, generators, tools and other supplies.

The sale will begin in early April with inventories updated regularly.

The state has already identified nearly 500 vehicles to be part of the first online sale.

According to the state, the sale of these cars and other goods could generate hundreds of thousands of dollars as well as millions of dollars in reduced costs due to reduced fuel and maintenance expenses.
