New York's Tax Revenues Remain Uncertain

New York remains in a slow, halting recovery that a state comptroller's report and an analyst say isn't showing any sign of a robust recovery anytime soon.

For Gov. Andrew Cuomo scheduled to present his 2012-13 budget tomorrow, it means continued uncertainty for tax revenue.

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli's latest cash report shows revenues for the first three quarters of the current fiscal year were $230 million below estimates.

That includes a drop in tax collections of nearly 3 percent in December compared to a year ago.

Cuomo will present a budget proposal of more than $130 billion in Albany on Tuesday. He'll then try to negotiate a deal with the Legislature by the April 1 start of the fiscal year.
