The north country's jobless numbers for December are in and there's bad news to report.

The double-digit unemployment rate in the tri-county region went up across the board since November.

To make matters worse, there were more people out of work in December compared to the same time a year ago.

Lewis County tops the north country unemployment rate at 10.7 percent.

That's up from 9 percent in November.

Jefferson County's December 2012 rate rose to 10.4 percent from 9.4 percent in November.

In St. Lawrence County, unemployment jumped to 10.2 percent in December from 9.4 percent in November.

New York state's jobless rate rose to 8.2 percent in December, compared to 7.9 percent the month before.

The nation's unemployment stood at 7.6 percent last month.

- Bronx County (11.9%)
- Oswego County (11%)
- Orleans County (10.9%)
- Hamilton County (10.8%)
- Essex County (10.7%)
- Lewis County (10.7%)
