Officials To Start Tracking Wait Times At Ogdensburg Border Crossing

Federal officials will start next week keeping track of how long people have to wait at while crossing the Canadian border at Ogdensburg.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) had told Ogdensburg Bridge and Port Authority (OBPA) officials that the wait times weren't significant enough for officials to keep track of.

North country Congressman Bill Owens asked CBP to define "significant" so local officials could see if the Ogdensburg border crossing met the criteria.

Owens pointed out that CBP kept track of wait times at all the other border crossings in his district, but not that one.

Owens said the information would help the OBPA track traffic patterns and would also let people crossing the border know how long they might have to wait.
