The Ogdensburg International Airport is getting $475,000 in federal grants to clear obstructions from runways.

North country Congressman Bill Owens made the announcement Tuesday.

The funds will be used to clear obstructions including trees and tree cover from runways and transitional surfaces.

"This funding supports the basic upkeep that allows these facilities to continue uninterrupted service for business people, residents and tourists who travel here.  These transportation resources are vital for future economic development and growth in the North Country," said Owens in a news release.

The Ogdensburg International Airport is a public airport spanning 500 acres and maintains 5,200 feet of asphalt runway.
